Hello Room 29 Families, Happy Friday! We had a busy week here in Room 29- here is a little bit about what we were up to... We continued to build our classroom community through getting to know each other and our classroom routines and expectations. We also spent some time thinking about our Franklin school rules and students had a chance to dig deeper through an academic choice project. Students demonstrated what they know about a particular rule through creating a circle map, advertisement or skit. We encouraged students to consider their learning style when choosing their project. We also kicked off Math this week! We began our first day with an introduction to multiplication. Students were eager to learn this new operation and have been excited to practice it all week. To lay the foundation for this new math skill, we have spent time thinking about things that come in equal groups. With these items in mind, students had a chance to create multiplication illustrations. We also spent time reviewing place value this week, and will continue to do so throughout this unit. In Reading, we opened our classroom library! We discussed choosing just right books using the IPICK strategy. We have also spent time building our independent reading stamina. We have made it to 25 minutes! Overall, we had a great week together and I am so looking forward to the rest of third grade!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone! ~ Ms. Norris

Yesterday was our first day of third grade and it was a success! Students were very excited to get to know each other and our classroom. We spent time starting to build our classroom community with some icebreakers and familiarized ourselves with some important classroom and school routines. Check out some first day photos of your third graders: ~ Ms. Norris
